I was asked to make some Frida earrings... so here they are...

Inspired by the necklace seen on Colonel Baron Takeichi Nishi in Letters from Iwo Jima.
Bullet case ( thanks Sherry!), bronze wire and horse hair on a vintage brass snake chain.

I needed a necklace I could wear and not one that wears me ( my voodoo necklace is way too heavy now... I'll need to do something about this soon...).

Mireille et ses merveilles

Some time ago I did a swap with Mireille ( she makes the tiniest, cutest eye beads I've ever seen. I send her some stuff. You can see them on her blog.
Here's what she sent to me. The first photo is to give you an idea of the size of her beads... yep they are that tiny!

If you take a close look to my voodoo necklace, you can see three tiny eyes and a wolf tooth Mireille sent. And of course, they are some beads Sherry gave me, some from Lindsay, some from Lucie, some from Lucinda, some from Laurence, some from Suzanne..... One day I will detail all the beads and elements... I promise!

The world of amulets and talismans is a fascinating one. I finished reading Desmond Morris "Body Guards" it's as good as Sheila Paine's book. I ordered two more books on the subject with less photos but more theory : the complete book of amulets and talismans and le livre des talismans et des amulettes. Can't wait to read them!
