The Warrior
Ingredients :
A wooden and wax amulet I made, a German silver focal I forged, an old Chinese coin (Song dynasty 960-1279), amber (Baltic and Mexican), various bone beads and pendants (one coffin charm from Gayle, thank you!), another wooden amulet I made, leather, a wolf tooth, a black bear molar, a deer tooth, a crystal point from Arkansas (thank you Jay and Bobbi!) in a bullet case from Tennessee (thank you Sherry!), ostrich egg shell discs, horse hair, shell, one ceramic pendant I made, ceramic beads from Greece (thank you alek from infinity stop), an Arabic coin, horn, glass, obsidian, jasper, wood, a Celtic money bronze ring, brass chain, copper, a sealed leather pouch filled with lavender...
I almost kept it for me... but already have three monsters of my own... and only one neck...
But I had a lot of fun making it, hunting beads in my drawers and boxes... finding some I forgot about...and I love making those tiny sealed leather pouches... some more to come I think...

Tūbātt
Still getting rid of beads... this time polymer clay beads I made ages ago...
Polymer clay is so versatile, with a little practice you can turn it into various materials... in this case amber, turquoise and coral... ( Jen, those teeth are polymer clay as well...)
Making faux turquoise is quite easy but quite messy...
You shred some turquoise polymer clay (it's better to mix the colors... so turquoise and white because the ready one is too bright), you add some dark acrylic paint, you roll your pieces of polymer clay in the paint.. you make nuggets, you bake them... you end up with beads that look like goat droppings... don't be disappointed... use sand paper (fine) and water... and there you are... you have your faux turquoise nuggets... now you have to drill them if you haven't made the holes before baking them...

First the life size bust... looking at the photos I took, it still needs a lot of work... a whole lotta work...
And a new monster, it might be done, it might be not...I'll try to make up my mind over the weekend..

that's more like it...
New studio, still full of stuff but now there's room to make (more) stuff...
And that's what I'm doing... here's a WIP...
And that's what I'm doing... here's a WIP...
Can't believe we might get some snow in the coming days... it froze last night and the frost killed some of my "baby" plants in the greenhouse... guess I'll have to start all over again when the cold wave goes away...
Hope you're having a great Sunday... :)
